The dispatcher is responsible for providing precise logistics to drivers in following their assigned routes in the transportation of patients to their medical appointments at the clinics or specialty providers' offices.
Dispatchers are the point of contact for drivers and are responsible for creating drivers' daily routes in the transportation of patients.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Dispatcher job description is intended to point out major responsibilities within the role, but it is not limited to these items.
- Preparing daily schedule / route for drivers
- Overseeing communication between drivers and supervisor.
- Be a resource for drivers in assisting with transportation and daily routes and a trouble shooter for traffic and route challenges.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to the proper facility. Accidents are reported to Manager directly for immediate resolution.
- Provide directions and information about van schedules, facilities and operations to the drivers and supervisor.
- Establish a good rapport with drivers and patients.
- Escalate patient concerns to the supervisor.
EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Good customer service skills.
- 1 years' experience as a dispatcher.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft systems / applications.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
- Be familiar with local roadways.
